Measurement & Control
SEM Suhner (Société Electro Mécanique) was founded by the Suhner family in Schirmeck, Alsace in 1962, and began by making motor windings. Product diversification followed later, with the production of transformers, wiring and wave soldering.
In 1988, Guy White took over the company, and this marked the start of a new era of modernisation, automation and
The professional expertise he had acquired, both at home and abroad, enabled him to bring press-fit technology for customised backplanes to France, a move that established SEM Suhner as the market leader. The remaining areas of transformers and wiring completed our product range.
Many of the people currently working for us have also lived through these periods of challenging transitions and it is thanks to them that SEM Suhner is so firmly entrenched at its original site in Schirmeck.
In 2005, management of this medium-sized company passed on to the second generation, with brothers Michel and Dominic White. Through their experience gained since 1994 in the family-owned company, as well as through their complementary profiles, they allowed SEM SUHNER to develop an advantageous position, both on the domestic and international markets.
A subsidiary was founded in Romania, to support the company’s competitive position in the market.
The product portfolio was extended and enhanced with the production of toroidal transformers and the corresponding investment associated with such a move.
Now our core business is the development and production of customised winding materials, taking individual customer requirements into consideration.
We employ around 80 people at our sites in Alsace (France) and Romania and distribute our products to an established worldwide customer base.
Flat hierarchies, short decision-making processes and shared know-how still play a major part in our company philosophy.
